Greensboro, NC Mayor Welcomes Director of Bahrain’s Anti Violence & Addiction Program

Manama, June 13 (BNA): Mayor of Greensboro in North Carolina in the United States, Nancy B. Vaughan, hailed the exceptional work of the Kingdom of Bahrain in implementing the Maan (Together) against violence and addiction in schools.

She also hailed its accomplishments and modern curricula, including the peaceful coexistence and anti-extremism curriculum adopted by the Interior Ministry in cooperation with North Carolina University. She highlighted the positive impact of the curricula in promoting tolerance among students.

She highlighted that while receiving the Maan Director, Ali Ameeni, at the university, he said that the programme’s progress comes as part of the directives of Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa.

Work has been done to implement the programme and constantly update its educational content, aiming to improve student behaviour, develop their correct decision-making skills, and strengthen the relationship and partnership between students and the community police, he added.

The director noted that the programme strives to protect young people and youth through effective programmes and advanced curricula that keep pace with the global challenges faced by societies, in addition to initiatives which take place through the adoption of actual and virtual awareness exhibitions.

The meeting reviewed cooperation and coordination and topics of common interests.
