Like the Kingdom of Bahrain itself, Shaikh Abdulla Rashed Al Khalifa and his wife, Her Excellency Sheikha Aisha bint Jaber Al Khalifa, are open and welcoming, sharing their culture and making the Bahrain Embassy in DC the Ambassador Residence a warm and open gathering place for people from all walks of life, from students to diplomats.

The Bahraini Ambassador and his wife, Sheikha Aisha Al Khalifa are supporters of the arts, both locally and internationally.
An art gallery was installed in the Ambassador’s Residence, curated by Shaikha Mai Bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities.
Sheikha Aisha Al Khalifa hosts fundraisers for Washington Performing Arts (WPA) and other cultural NGOs. The Embassy supports WPA’s “World in Our City” program which reflects on what it means to be a citizen of the world through a unique art-based lens.

Countering Violence and Addiction
The Bahrain Ambassador to the US currently serves on the Kingdom of Bahrain’s National Anti-Drug Committee.
Shaikh Abdulla played a key role in founding and developing the Maan “Together” program, an anti-violence and anti-addiction program in Bahrain. The program is affiliated with the American organization D.A.R.E.
In 2018, Shaikh Abdulla became D.A.R.E.’s first international member of its board, since the organization’s inception in 1983.
Sports
Shaikh Abdulla Al Khalifa served as a member of the Bahrain Olympic Committee from 2008 and as the Treasurer until 2017.
As Vice President of the Bahrain Olympic Shooting Federation, the Ambassador formulated the first women’s shooting team, which competed locally and internationally.
In 2007, he gained continental support to be elected Vice President of the Asian Shooting Confederation.
Abdulla Al Khalifa chaired the Bahrain Weightlifting and Bodybuilding Association until his appointment as Ambassador. He gained continental and international support to earn posts as the President of the Asian Bodybuilding Federation and the Vice President of the International Federation for Bodybuilding and Fitness.
