Bahrain Ambassador to US wins US civil rights award

A top Bahraini diplomat received the US 2022 King Legacy Award for International Service for his commitment, leadership and service. 

Bahrain’s Ambassador to the US Shaikh Abdulla bin Rashid Al Khalifa received the award that honours the life and legacy of American civil rights leader Dr Martin Luther King, Jr.

The award was presented during a ceremony in Washington DC on the occasion of Martin Luther King Day that was marked on Monday. 

“I am both honoured and humbled at receiving the award, and proud of His Majesty King Hamad’s visionary leadership that has allowed for such a recognition,” Shaikh Abdulla said on Twitter, thanking the 30th MLK, Jr. International Salute Committee.  

“We remain devoted to a culture of respect, inclusion and selfless service for current and future generations.
